What is this lesson about?

This Fitness & Free Time is a speaking-led A2–B1 ESL lesson plan that helps adult learners talk honestly about energy, rest, motivation, and how they really spend their evenings. Instead of focusing on fitness goals or routines, the lesson explores everyday choices, habits, and feelings in a calm, relatable way.

What language will students practise?

Students practise natural, everyday language related to:

  • energy and tiredness

  • rest and relaxation

  • free time habits

  • making choices after work

  • talking about balance and wellbeing

How do students practise?

Students take part in:

  • scenario-based warm-up discussions

  • guided “this or that” choice tasks

  • personal reflection prompts

  • realistic everyday situations

  • picture-based discussion

  • optional short writing or voice reflection

Why is this lesson useful?

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

  • talk confidently about free time and energy levels

  • describe how their habits affect their wellbeing

  • express preferences and feelings using simple, natural English

  • engage in meaningful, real-life conversations without pressure

Who is this lesson for?
