Lesson Description

What is this lesson about? This expressing feelings ESL lesson plan helps A2–B1 learners describe their emotions and respond empathetically in everyday conversations. Students practise simple but powerful expressions like I feel…, That sounds tough, and How about you? through dialogues, gap-fills, and role-plays.

What language will students learn? Learners focus on six core emotion words: tired, stressed, relaxed, anxious, excited, calm. They also master conversational structures for:

  • Expressing feelings: I feel tired today. / I’m feeling calm after my walk.

  • Responding empathetically: That sounds tough. / Hope you feel better soon.

  • Asking about others: How about you?

How do students practise? The lesson builds fluency and empathy step by step:
