What is this lesson about? This meditation collocations ESL lesson plan helps B1–B2 learners explore language for mindfulness, meditation, and mental clarity. Students practise collocations such as practise mindfulness, control the breath, observe your thoughts, and cultivate gratitude through matching, gap-fills, transformations, and speaking activities.

What language will students learn? Learners focus on eight essential collocations:

  • Practise mindfulness

  • Control the breath

  • Develop awareness

  • Observe your thoughts

  • Embrace stillness

  • Cultivate gratitude

  • Stay present

  • Set an intention

How do students practise? The lesson develops calm, reflective fluency step by step:

  • Warm-up discussion questions about mindfulness and focus.

  • Definition matching for key wellbeing vocabulary.

  • Collocation matching to build natural word partnerships.

  • Sentence gap-fills and transformations for contextual fluency.

  • Tense challenge to reinforce grammar alongside collocations.

  • Speaking practice where learners reflect on their own mindfulness routines.
