Lesson Description

What is this lesson about?

This creativity & inspiration ESL lesson plan helps upper-intermediate learners (B2–C1) rethink what creativity really is. Using a short video as the core input, students explore common myths about creativity, reflect on their own creative habits, and learn how ideas are generated in real life.

How do students practise?

Learners move through a calm, logical lesson flow:

  • soft warm-up exploring personal associations with creativity

  • guided discussion challenging common beliefs about creativity

  • video-led gist and detail listening tasks

  • reflective speaking tasks based on the speaker’s ideas

  • a low-pressure “idea-stacking” experiment

  • fluency-focused discussion using natural creative language

  • final reflection and consolidation

Why is this lesson useful?

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

  • discuss creativity and inspiration confidently in English

  • challenge limiting beliefs about being “not creative”

  • describe how ideas are developed in real-world contexts

  • express opinions and reflect thoughtfully using B2–C1 language
