Through reading, vocabulary in context and structured speaking tasks, learners examine what made Einstein influential and how his approach to learning, imagination and questioning the world still matters today.

Vocabulary:
racial injustice, question authority, passionately curious, advocate for peace, think differently

Functional language:
expressing admiration, relating personal experiences, giving thoughtful opinions, exploring hypothetical ideas

Speaking skills:
connecting ideas to personal experience, interpreting quotes, watching and responding to video content, discussing worldview and mindset

How do students practise?

The lesson is built around a clear, speaking-first sequence:

  • Warm-up questions about curiosity and learning
  • Quote-based discussion to spark personal reflection
  • A reading introducing Einstein’s life and values
  • Vocabulary discovered naturally through short, realistic dialogues
  • Controlled practice linking vocabulary to students’ own experiences
  • A video activity on Einstein’s life with gist and detail tasks
  • Discussion on creativity, influence and unconventional thinking
  • Imaginative prompts exploring Einstein in the modern world
  • A final reflection on curiosity and mindset in the learner’s own life

This keeps the lesson cohesive, purposeful and fully aligned with adult learners.
