GRAMMAR

Lesson Description

Holiday Mode is a lively A2–B1 present continuous ESL lesson designed as a clear, confidence-building grammar refresher.

Set in a travel and holiday context, this lesson helps learners use the present continuous naturally to describe:

  • actions happening now

  • temporary holiday situations

  • definite future arrangements

  • repeated behaviour with emotional tone

Through visual prompts, a short travel post, structured speaking tasks, and a collaborative mini-trip planning activity, students practise the present continuous in meaningful, real-world contexts.

What students practise

By the end of the lesson, students can:

  • use the present continuous to describe what is happening now

  • describe temporary holiday situations clearly

  • talk about future travel plans with confidence

  • recognise the difference between present simple and present continuous

  • use always, constantly, and forever to describe repeated behaviour

Who is it for?

Ideal for pre-intermediate to intermediate adult learners (A2–B1) who need a present continuous ESL lesson to refresh and strengthen their grammar in a practical, engaging way.
